This is the latest update on lateral partner and counsel moves in Texas. Included are all moves at AmLaw 200 firms; data in these reports is primarily derived from Firm Prospects LLC. For more details and analysis, including a list of laterals for the month, please contact Saadia Sultan.

TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 26 partner and counsel moves in March 2024, down from 28 in February. Twenty-nine moves were reported in March 2023.

Seventeen of the March 2024 moves occurred in the Dallas area, 6 in Houston, and 3 in Austin. Two movers came from in-house positions and the rest came from private practice.

Two separate firms reported multiple moves during the month with one firm reporting a group move. The lone group move were the three lawyers from the white collar/investigations boutique Elliot Sauder who joined McGuireWoods, Jackson Walker also reported two separate moves in March..

Eleven of the 26 lawyers (42.3%) were women, with eight entering as partners. That compared to 10 of the 15 men who joined their new firms as partners.

Litigation was the leading practice area represented, with eight practitioners. Other practice areas included:
