TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 27 partner and counsel moves in May down from 38 in April 2025 and down from 50 in May 2024.
Fourteen of May’s moves occurred in the Dallas area, 10 in Houston, 2 in Austin and one in San Antonio. All but one of the movers came from private practice with one coming from an in-house position.
There was one group move in May. The move involved a Intellectual Property group in Dallas which moved from Baker Donelson to Buchalter.
Eight of the 27 lawyers (30%) were women, with seven entering as partners. That compared to 10 of the 19 men who joined their new firms as partners.
Banking was the leading practice area represented, with six attorneys represented. Other practice areas included:
