TMG’s monthly study of lateral moves in Texas revealed 38 partner and counsel moves in April up from 30 in March 2025 and down from 56 in April 2024.

Fifteen of April’s moves occurred in the Dallas area, 15 in Houston and eight in Austin. All but six of the movers came from private practice with the three coming from government positions and three coming from in-house positions.

There were two group moves in April. One move involved Litigation attorneys in Dallas from the U.S. Attorney’s Office to Dykema Gossett. The other was a Labor & Employment group in Houston that moved from Chamberlain Hrdlicka to Jackson Walker.

Eighteen of the 38 lawyers (47%) were women, with nine entering as partners. That compared to 15 of the 20 men who joined their new firms as partners.

Litigation was the leading practice area represented, with nine attorneys represented. Other practice areas included:
