Steve Nelson was quoted in the article “Sweetener Bonuses for Laterals Are Coming with Risks.”
Nelson pointed out that firms often have to guarantee a lateral’s compensation for a short period of time to ensure that they remain at around the same compensation as at his or her prior firm. He also stated that many laterals who subsequently move shortly thereafter are “not really working out at their firms.”
